about fair havens hospice
Our patients are treated as unique individuals regardless of their age, sex, race or religion. Here, you and your family/carers will have the benefit of receiving excellent professional care from a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT which includes Nurses, Doctors, Social Worker, Chef, Chaplain, and the Family Support Team).
The Fair Havens Nursing Team wear a uniform with badges which indicate their role.
A photo board is also located in the hall which will help you to easily identify individual members of staff.
Our In Patient Unit is a 10 bed specialist palliative care unit, set in a large converted house very close to the sea with a relaxed atmosphere.
We have a small lawned area with a pond and a sensory garden where you can sit and relax.
- It is our intention to create an environment which is beneficial to the physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being of all who come here.
- Our team of skilled doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, administrators, spiritual caregivers, family support staff and volunteers work together – openly and honestly – to achieve what is best suited to the needs of the individual.
- The Family Support team is there to offer you and your family space to help you to talk through the thoughts and issues most affecting you at any stage. They can be contacted on 01702 220321.
Four of our rooms are situated on the ground floor. There is also a Jacuzzi bath on the ground floor. There are six rooms situated on the first floor. All rooms have en suite facilities and ceiling hoists.
When you are offered a room, our Nursing Team will ask if you can sit on a stair-lift to gain access to the first floor. This information is very important as we only have a limited number of ground floor rooms which may be occupied on the day of your admission.
If you are unable to sit on a stair-lift and do require a ground floor room, but none are available, you will be placed on our waiting list.
Unfortunately the restrictions of the building prevent the use of a passenger lift. If you are expecting disabled visitors who will be unable to gain access to the first floor via the stair lift, please speak to a member of our Nursing Team prior to admission so that alternative arrangements can be made.
If you prefer to be cared for by a person of the same gender or wish to be referred to a different health professional please inform a member of the Nursing Team. We will try to accommodate your preference.
Whilst you are with us we are very happy for you to go out, but would ask that you let us know where you are going. If you need someone to go with you, please ask and we will see if it is possible for a member of staff to accompany you.
Fair Havens Hospice is a registered charity (RCN 1022119) and all patient care services are free.
Kind donations, fundraising events, charity shops and gifts in wills help us to continue this care.
