On Monday 10th July, the children of Little Havens Hospice were visited by Ford Motors Company’s Truck Fleet with a brand new Havens Hospices lorry.
Craig Holmes, Load Security Team at Truck Fleet in Dagenham explained,
“When we get new trailers we try to makes sure one or two are used as charity trailers. We’ll ask the drivers who they would like to support and offer it out to the charity. If the charity accepts their branding will be on the lorry for its lifetime which is around 10 to 15 years.”
The truck which has a unique fundraising text number will be travelling up and down the country and will even venture abroad, sometimes as far as Germany, helping to spread the word about Havens Hospices.
“We’ve had bigger charities in the past so it’s nice to have a local charity, it feels more personal to us all here at Ford Truck Fleet and we are all hoping that we help raise lots of money for the hospices and help them continue ‘Making every day count’ for adults, babies, children and young people across Essex.”
The funds raised through the text code will help Havens Hospices continue caring for adults and children like six year old Lilly-Mai Steele who gave the truck her seal of approval on Monday whilst staying at Little Havens Hospice for a short break.
Tanya King Corporate Fundraiser at Havens Hospices said,
“We must raise over £100,000 each week to be there for everyone who needs us. We don’t charge a penny for our care and that is only possible because of donations. We are incredibly grateful to Ford for branding their newest truck in a bid to help us continue ‘Making every day count’ for adults, babies, children and families across Essex.”
