On 20th May, Carly Milsom and her family held their third fundraising party for Little Havens Hospice. They hold these events in memory and in celebration of their loved one – Reggie, who was cared for and passed away at Little Havens in September 2013.
The family raised over £3000 at this year’s event and have raised over £7500 for the charity so far.
“We will forever hold Little Havens close to our hearts, and really wanted the opportunity to give something back. We have a lot of supportive family and friends behind us that are always there to help - I want to thank everyone who helped with our fundraising party for Reggie - we had another amazing night, and it felt great to have raised such a wonderful amount once again for Little Havens
“Little Havens let us be a family; we were able to all spend time together and make some beautiful memories with Reggie at the hospice. All the staff at Little Havens Hospice supported all of us and the care is second to none in my opinion; I will always remember how wonderful the nurses were with Reggie - they would cuddle him, hold his hand, and sing to him.”
On the night, Reggie’s big brother Freddie 10 years old, was master of ceremonies – handing out the prizes for best fancy dress and also made a speech on behalf of the family.
“I think my Mum and Dad are incredibly strong putting on this party every year in Reggie’s memory; my brothers Kennie, Ernie and I are so proud of them for everything they have done and I know Reggie would be too.
“Reggie was diagnosed with SMA at 7 weeks old, when Little Havens offered us a place for some family time we went to visit, the nurses there were fantastic and Mum and Dad decided we could all go for a family break. The love and care they gave to Reggie was amazing, we even got to go swimming with him – we made some lovely memories there, but sadly Reggie never got to come home.
“Little Havens gave me the courage to carry on and still support my family three years on; they really do make every day count; so I would like to thank everyone who has helped us raise money so that Little Havens can continue ‘Making every day count’ for families across Essex like they did for ours.”
