‘making memories’ soul nights raise money to help little havens hospice continue ‘making every day count’

15 May 2017

On 16th April, The Gardeners Arms in Brentwood opened its doors for ‘Making Memories,’ a soul night. This was the third ‘Making Memories’ event Kellie has organised, but the first solely in aid of Little Havens Hospice. Kellie decided to nominate Little Haven as the chosen charity for ‘Making Memories’ as she felt it was a wonderful, local cause that would benefit greatly from the funds raised.

Kellie and some of the ‘Making Memories’ team were invited to Little Havens Hospice by Community Fundraiser Peter Hall to learn more about the care and support the hospice provides babies, children, teenagers with life-limiting illnesses and their families. They were so inspired by the work Little Havens Hospice does that have dedicated future ‘Making Memories’ events to raising funds solely for the hospice.

Kellie Green, event organiser said

“It was so warming to hear about and see the excellent work that Little Havens Hospice does, and see how the money we have raised through ‘Making Memories’ has already helped so many children and their families. Our ‘Making Memories’ soul nights are all about creating magical memories which seemed perfect for Little Havens who are ‘Making every day count’ for seriously ill children and their families.

“My visit helped reinforce my desire to do everything I can to help Little Havens continue the great work they do and I’m so pleased that our last ‘Making Memories’ soul event at The Gardeners Arms was such a fantastic success and raised a fantastic £5,000 for the hospice.  I am also delighted that we were able to raise £2,000 at our December ‘Making Memories’ which was used to replace the ball pit in the hospice.

“I would also like to thank all the staff at The Gardeners Arms for all their amazing support, and our seven brilliant DJ’s who have all given their time for free. We are really looking forward to doing it all over again on Sunday August 27th, where we will be joined by our friend and DJ Glenn Nudd, who himself is suffering from a life limiting illness and was the reason I set up ‘Making Memories’ originally – we wanted to give Glenn something to keep going for and it is certainly working so far!"

Donna Skurr, Licensee at The Gardeners Arms said,

“We are delighted to continue to host the ‘Making Memories’ soul nights because they are extremely popular and it’s great to see our customers, having such a fantastic time for a local cause. I was both amazed and inspired when I visited Little Havens Hospice to see the difference our support, makes and I would encourage other local business owners to do their bit too to help Little Havens continue their vital work. I’m already looking forward to our next event for Little Havens Hospice.”
