Riverside Nursery, Hockley, have very kindly donated a £100 gift voucher to the residents of St Luke’s Place run by Genesis Housing Association in Rochford to be put towards their gardens in anticipation of the Havens Hospices’ Open Gardens event on Sunday 2nd July. St Luke’s Place is joining 6 other beautiful gardens in Rochford, Hockley, Ashingdon and Hawkwell that will be open to the public in aid of Havens Hospices; programmes are only £5 and can be purchased in advance by calling 01702 220 305.
Lisa Durham at Riverside Nursery said,
“We always try to support charities and members of our local community; so when we found out that the residents of St Luke’s Place were opening their gardens to raise money for Havens Hospices we didn’t hesitate to help them get ready by contributing to their garden budget. We are selling programmes for the event at the nursery so if you are interesting in exploring some of the areas gardens please pop in and get a programme. It’s our absolute pleasure to support both St Luke’s Place and Havens Hospices and we look forward to seeing the gardens on the 2nd July!”
David DeSouzza, Services Coordinator at St Luke’s Place, commented,
“We have a number of residents who are inspired by nature & gardening and want to create something beautiful. Our rather corporate gardens have been transformed in areas by individual’s enthusiasm and creativity. The universal approval to host an open day for something as worthy as our local hospice service has added a new momentum, focus and togetherness to their efforts.
“We wanted to get involved with this event because Havens Hospices is so important for the local community and we wanted the St Luke’s Place family to help both Little Havens Hospice and Fair Havens Hospice continue ‘making every day count’ for families across the area.
“We’re very grateful to Riverside Nursery for donating £100 to our resident’s gardening fund as we don’t have a big budget, so this has really boosted it. We welcome any contribution to getting the communal and residents’ personal plots ready for the event in July as they are all so excited about welcoming the local community in to our grounds.”
