Thorpe Bay Lawn Tennis Club presented Little Havens Hospice with a cheque for over £1,900 following a successful year of fundraising for the hospice as part of their charity of the year campaign for 2016.
The club’s Ladies Captain Jackie Sirdifield chose Little Havens Hospice as Charity of the Year after a friend used the hospice’s services during their daughter Millie’s illness. The tennis club held two events to fundraise for Little Havens Hospice.
“I chose Little Havens as the charity of the year 2016 as they were such a massive support to Millie and her family throughout her journey. It was just a small way of saying thank you for all the tremendous support the Little Havens staff gave them and also to help them continue to give vital care and support to many other children and their families across Essex. We had two very enjoyable fundraising days – our Ladies Invitation tournament & lunch and our Christmas charity day in December. Both were great fun and well supported by our members, who gave so very generously to this amazing charity.”
Sally Bridger, Community Fundraiser for Havens Hospices, said
“We are incredibly thankful to Jackie and all the members of the Thorpe Bay Lawn Tennis Club for choosing Little Havens as their charity of the year 2016 and raising a fantastic amount for the hospice. The support of the local community really allows us to continue ‘Making every day count’ for the children and their families who use Little Havens Hospices.”
