Making a Will is something many people put off, but Havens Hospices is encouraging people to get it done this summer to help raise money for the patients it cares for.
Havens Hospices will be holding Wills Month throughout June, encouraging people to write their Wills for a donation to the hospices, which cares for seriously ill children and adults. Local solicitors will be giving their time and expertise for free to put together single or mirror Wills in exchange for donations of £75 for single, £125 for mirror Wills and £40 for codicil Wills.
The appointments can take place at a local solicitor’s office or one of the Legacy Roadshows which will take place on;
- Tuesday 7th June – Holiday Inn, Southend Airport
- Thursday 16th June – Oysterfleet, Canvey
- Friday 17th June – Fair Havens Hospice Day Care
Havens Hospices Legacy Fundraiser, Sarah Seiffert, says,
“Making a Will is so important for peace of mind and ensures that a person’s family, loved ones and treasured possessions are taken care of after they have died. Making a Will with a solicitor can be costly and that in itself can put people off. If someone has the intention of making a Will or needs to amend their existing one, Wills Month gives them the opportunity to do that and give a donation to the charity, whilst saving money at the same time.”
The charity is also asking its supporters and people in the local community consider leaving a gift in their Will to Havens Hospices.
“By providing respite breaks, managing pain and caring for seriously children and adults at the end of their lives, we make a real difference to them and their families, whether they’re with us for years, months, weeks or even just hours.
“Family comes first of course but if someone chooses to leave a legacy to Havens Hospices, no matter the size, they’ll be directly helping us to continue caring throughout the journey of someone’s illness, at a time when they and their families need us most. That kind of gift is priceless to us and is an incredibly powerful thing to leave behind.”
