Havens Hospices is inviting families to join a walk through the woods in a fundraiser perfect for tiny feet.
The charity’s Family Woodland Walk is taking place on Sunday 15th May at Little Havens Hospice in Thundersley. The walk is a short 1.5km and is therefore ideal for the whole family. The route will take families around the woods next to the hospice and along the way children will meet characters and be told a story. There will also be free tractor rides included for each child. Other entertainment throughout the day includes a face painter, craft corner, tombola and toy sale. The event will raise money for Havens Hospices, the charity which incorporates Little Havens Hospice and Fair Havens Hospice.
Sally Bridger, Community Fundraiser for Havens Hospices, said,
“Last year’s woodland walk was really good fun and although we had some rain everybody braved the weather and enjoyed themselves. This year we’re hoping for brighter weather although you may still want your wellies to explore the beautiful woodlands next to the hospice.
“Every child who completes the walk will be given a medal so they can celebrate their achievement. I’d like to encourage everybody to come along to the event and to ask their family and friends for sponsorship too.”
There are three different start times available for the walk at 11.15am, 12.15pm and 2.15pm. Those taking part should arrive at least an hour before their chosen start time to ensure they don’t miss out on the free tractor ride.
“The care we provide at Havens Hospices is free of charge and we help by controlling pain and medication, offering respite, and caring for babies, children, teenagers and adults at the end of their lives. This simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of the local community taking part in events like this one. I hope to see lots of people on the day.”
A family ticket for two adults and two children is just £16, or one adult and one child is £8. Additional adults are £4 and additional children are £5.
Registration is open on the day from 10am.
