The Little Havens Hospice shop on Collier Row Road, near Romford, was officially declared open during the event on Thursday 14th January. The new shop is the 23rd to be opened by charity Havens Hospices which incorporates Little Havens in Thundersley caring for seriously ill babies, children and teenagers from across the whole of Essex, and Fair Havens Hospice in Westcliff. The shop has been welcoming people through the doors since Monday 14th December and held the official opening to celebrate with local people, its volunteers, staff and supporters. It was also attended by the Mayor of Havering Cllr Brian Eagling.
Susan Barnes, Shop Manager, said, “The shop has really taken off with a bang and we’ve had a fantastic first few weeks. It’s been lovely to be hear lots of compliments from customers in the shop saying how neat and tidy it is and also commenting on the high quality of the items we have on sale. We’re really pleased to be here and I am sure the shop will do really well with the support of local people in and around Collier Row.”
The new shop is open from 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am to 4.30pm on Saturdays.
Susan added, “We’re also looking for more people to join our team as a volunteer for duties including serving at the till, greeting and building a rapport with customers, assisting in stock management, sorting and tagging donations, steaming clothes and dressing window displays. We’re very flexible and as well as tailoring the role to people’s individual skills we’ll also provide full training. We hope to hear from some potential new volunteers soon.”
