STEMS stands for Support, Therapy, Education, Music and Specialist Play.

This Team provide holistic care through these activities for children and siblings.

Support and Specialist Play takes place on a one-to-one basis or in a group session, either during your respite break or at an agreed time between visits. A Music Therapist visits on a weekly basis and our Teacher and Teaching Assistant liaise with your children’s schools enabling their education to continue.

One of the team is always involved in the trips that we arrange and our pre and post bereavement groups.

krafty kids

Krafty Kids is for children of primary school age who have someone special in their life who is poorly or has died. It is run by the STEMS Team and experienced volunteers.

We meet to have fun, talk and remember in a  safe place with people who understand. Children often do not know anybody else who is going through similar things to them when somebody close to them is ill or has died.  It can be helpful and reassuring to meet other children who may be experiencing similar emotions.

We meet in the Heath Centre, which is part of the building at Little Havens Hospice. Occasionally  we may meet somewhere else if we’re doing a special activity.

The group meets on a Saturday 10.30am – 2.30pm usually every two months.  We will write to you in advance  with the date and details of what we will be doing. It is up to you and your child to decide when they feel the time is right to stop attending. Lunch is usually provided.

we also run groups for older children

Inbetweeners is specifically for boys aged approximately nine to 12. VIP is for young people of secondary school age and then for 16 – 20 year olds there is another group.

These groups meet at various times and days, sometimes in school holidays depending on the wishes of the group.

The content and activities of these groups varies – they also may be held at Little Havens or off site. However, as always the young people have the opportunity to talk and the Sibling Support Worker is available for individual sessions.
