Refer a child to Little Havens

Little Havens is the only place in the area wholly dedicated to caring for those with complex or incurable conditions.

Who can be cared for at Little Havens?

We can care for children and young people up to the age of 25, and their families, from Essex and the surrounding London boroughs. Initial contact may be made either by a parent or carer, or any professional directly involved in the care of a child. Anyone making a referral must have the consent of the parent/guardian or young person.

Our eligibility criteria is based on the Together For Short Lives definitions. Some children will need further assessment to determine if they fit into a category.

  • Conditions where curative treatment may fail
  • Conditions where premature death is inevitable
  • Progressive conditions without curative options
  • Irreversible, but non progressive conditions, causing severe disability
