Here at Havens Hospices we understand that friends and family come first and foremost when making any financial plans, but especially when considering your Will. We wouldn’t want it any other way.
However, having a Will also gives you the opportunity to help a cause close to your heart. If you could include a gift to Havens Hospices our patients, children, family and nurses would be so very grateful. Havens Hospices receives only limited funding from the government. However, Gifts in Wills account for a substantial amount of our income. Put quite simply, without the kindness of people who help us in this way, we would not be able to continue caring.
Our vision is to Make Every Day Count for every adult and child in the local community who is living with a life limiting or life threatening illness. This can only happen with the kindness and generosity of people like you and that’s how a gift in your Will, no matter what size, can make a life-changing difference for future generations.
How to include Havens Hospices in your Will
We strongly advise that you use a Solicitor to have your Will drafted or updated. A properly drafted and executed Will minimises the potential for dispute over your estate and will therefore help to ensure that your wishes are honoured. You can find a Solicitor by using the search engine on the Law Society website. You can search by postcode or location to get a list of Solicitors in your area.
What if I already have a Will?
If you are happy with your existing Will but simply want to include a gift to Havens Hospices, you can update your Will with a codicil. A codicil is a supplement to your Will that can make simple changes or additions to your Will. We advise you consult your Solicitor before executing a Codicil, and they can tell you more about this process.
I have already left a gift to the hospices in my Will
A Will is a private matter and we of course appreciate that not everyone wants to tell us that they have included us in their Will.
However, if you do decide to include us in your Will, or if you have already, we would be delighted to hear from you.
This will give us the opportunity to thank you in your lifetime and to keep you updated on how we are Making Every Day Count for our patients and children. We would also love to hear your reasons as to why Havens Hospices is so special to you that you have included us in your Will. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
By telling us that you have included us in your Will, you will automatically become our “Friend for Life.” This means that you become part of Havens Hospices’ future so you will be invited to our exclusive Thank You event, as well as receiving regular updates to keep you informed about our work and the plans for the future.
