“I have enjoyed swimming in the sea off of Southend for a number of years and it is fantastic that Havens Hospices has organised such a great event that incorporates one of Southend's unique features.Ben, 2010 Race competitor

“My mum Sheila was cared for by Fair Havens at the end of her life in December 2012. Fair Havens is a truly humbling place; a dignified environment befitting such a special lady. On behalf of our amazing Mum, and the entire family, we will be always grateful to Fair Havens for their kindness, and the care and thought shown at such a terribly sad time of life.

“There is something beautiful about swimming in the fresh air, catching the glint of the sun on the water, with birds flying over your head and the openness itself. I just get out there to enjoy the elements. It’s right on my doorstep so I’d be crazy not to.” - Phil Steed, Great Pier Swimmer 2011.
