Day Care

We provide a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment for patients looking for help in enhancing their independence and quality of life.

Day Care01

Hands-on care and guidance is available from our team of skilled nurses, doctors, therapists, Chaplaincy and Family Care team, offering a wide range of information to meet your every need.

You will also be able to sample the different facilities, seek advice and try new therapies. The centre is available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 3pm, or sessional. The centre is wheelchair friendly and located on the ground floor. Parking is restricted at the hospice, but visitors car parking spaces are situated at the front of the main hospice building on Chalkwell Avenue. Transport can be provided by our team of volunteer drivers - please speak to any member of staff for more information.

Who can we help?

Day Care is available to those with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness living within the areas of Southend, Castle Point and Rochford. Day Care is available to those who need it - free of charge - but donations are greatly appreciated.

What we offer

We offer a range of services, including practical and emotional support, reflexology, infusions (blood taken and transfusions given), counselling, IT facilities and access to social work. Hot meals and refreshments are provided during the day, with specific dietary needs easily catered for.

When you visit Day Care you are allocated two members of staff, a Key Worker and a Co-Worker. They are responsible for your nursing care during your time at the centre and continue to assess your individual needs. Each patient is reviewed every 8-12 weeks. Your Key Worker will also discuss and plan your discharge. Following discharge contact will continue with your Fair Havens Macmillan Nurse or other healthcare professionals, with the option of re-referral to Day Care should the need arise.
