Talks and Assemblies
The Havens Hospices Youth Team delivers talks and conducts interactive assemblies to help student understand the role of adult and children’s hospices in the community.
We tailor our presentations to the needs of the educational institutions but most presentations take approximately 15-20 minutes, are age appropriate and we use different mediums to communicate our message. For example, in infant schools we can use our special magic colouring book to explain how we help add colour to children and families lives’.
In junior schools we could involve the students with an interactive assembly about how it might feel not to be able to do the activities you like best and how we can create these opportunities for the children and families using little Havens Children’s Hospice.
Secondary school assemblies focus on the kind of services we provide, who needs them and what impact the Hospices can have on their lives using a PowerPoint presentation or DVD.

Lessons Plans
The Havens Hospices Youth Team are able to offer bespoke lessons depending on your requirements. Our lesson plans are suitable across a number of subjects including Citizenship, PHSE, RE and Drama.
The lesson content can focus on a number of issues such as “What is Palliative care and how do hospices deliver this care”, “How can bereavement affect people and how can we support each other”, “What is life like for a child/young adult living with a life limiting condition” or “What could you expect from a role in the care industry”. All lessons involve student participation and are discussion led.
We are happy to discuss your requirements and tailor the lesson plans, even if they differ from the above mentioned subjects.
