Trustee - Dr Jenny ThorpJenny was born in Hornchurch, Essex, in December 1943 into a non-medical family. She subsequently went to Hornchurch Grammar School where she met her future husband Chris in 1962. She went on to attend Sheffield Medical School graduating in 1967.

As Chris and Jenny were by that time engaged to be married, she returned to Essex to do her 'house' jobs, two at Oldchurch Hospital, (now known as Queen's), and one at Rushgreen. She married Chris in October 1967 and after working in public health for about a year, had their first child, a girl in 1970. She moved to Rayleigh later that year and started doing locums for what is now Audley Mills Surgery.

Her husband was posted to Cologne with Ford Motor Company in October, 1971 and their second child, a boy was born in February, 1972. They returned to England at the end of 1972 and started to work on a regular basis for Audley Mills, becoming a part-time Principal in the mid seventies. Their third child, another boy, was born in 1978.

Jenny continued to enjoy General Practice and developed an interest in Palliative care, particularly related to children and when Little Havens Children's Hospice opened in 1998, she felt lucky enough to join the team initially as a volunteer, before joining the staff officially and eventually becoming a Medical Director.

She held this post until she retired in March 2009, removing her name from GMC register in July 2009. Jenny now has six grandchildren. She is a member of Saint Saviour church in Wescliff.
