Dennis lives in Brentwood, Essex, with his wife Diane and they have one son, Peter.
Dennis joined Essex Police, serving for thirty years holding a number of senior police management positions. He attended Essex University, graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Policymaking and Administration. In 1998 he was seconded to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, becoming the Chief of Personnel to a Western European Union Police Mission in Tirana, Albania and then advisor to the Albanian Minister of Public Order.
After retiring he became a civilian business manager with the City of London Police, with responsibility for installing a £10,000,000 business programme.
Dennis has undertaken charity/voluntary work holding senior management positions. He is well known for organising and leading charity expeditions to places like the North Pole, Sahara Desert, the Amazon and Death Valley. His most recent exploit was a swim in a tank of Tiger Sharks!
He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, the holder of the MBE, also a Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Essex, a member of Brentwood a'Becket Rotary Club and a School Governor.
