Brian joined our Board of Trustees in 2010. Find out more about Brian

Trustee - Brian GillardBrian was educated at Eton House School and left to start a career in Marine Insurance with a City Broker where he stayed for five years.

Then deciding on a career move he went into the clothing industry and learnt how to produce men’s clothing and started a career on the road, selling.

Brian was later offered a position in a new company which was involved in non-woven fabrics and he worked his way to a position where he was getting the company’s products specified in uniforms for the MOD and major retailers such as M&S and BHS.

Due to the recession in the eighties, he was made redundant and he decided to start his own business selling Narrow Fabrics to the clothing industry. Brian is pleased that PMV Essex Ltd is still in business 30 years on and being run by his son.

Brian is married to Maureen and they have two sons and a daughter who have given them eight grandchildren, one of whom was still born but is still remembered as one of the family.

Brian’s interests include badminton where he represented the County and he has served on the County Committee where he is still a Trustee of Chalkwell Badminton Centre.

Brian has also enjoyed Sailing and was Commodore of Steeple Bay. Brian has always taken a keen interest in the organisations he has joined and has recently been President of Thorpe Bay Bowling Club where he now serves as a Committee member.
